Good afternoon,

I recently came across your organization and learned about the support you provide to people in need. I am deeply grateful that there is hope for me as well, particularly with food assistance.

At present, I am recovering from a severe spinal cord injury. Not long ago, I was completely paralyzed, but thanks to a six-hour surgery and the incredible work of the surgeons, I was given a second chance at life. Six months later, I managed to stand and slowly began walking again. For this, I am truly thankful.

However, my current circumstances remain very difficult. I am unable to work physically and must rely on strong pain medication just to manage daily life. The pain has become a constant part of my existence, and I am learning to live with it.

Unfortunately, I do not receive any benefits. After the surgery and six months in hospital, I was placed in a hotel, where I have now been living for a year and a half. During this time, I have often survived on only one or two meals a day. On Wednesdays, I rely on the free kitchen at Old Street. I am truly in need of support.

I am 43 years old and was once in the full strength of my life. In just one moment, an injury changed everything, leaving me disabled and feeling unwanted. I am originally from Latvia, but as I am not a Latvian citizen, I am not eligible for financial support or benefits in the UK. This is despite having worked here for 10 years on contract, paying taxes, and making pension contributions. I have all the documents, payslips, and proof, yet none of it seems to help my current situation.

I now live at 71 Stopford Road, Plaistow, E13 0NA. I would be sincerely grateful for any assistance you may be able to offer. Please forgive me if I have taken your time.
